How Star Light Showcases Reel Fleet’s Commitment to Real-World Filmmaking

At The Reel Fleet, we take pride in creating opportunities for the next generation of filmmakers by drawing from real industry experience. One of the standout examples of that experience is Star Light, a supernatural horror thriller co-directed by Reel Fleet co-founder Lee Cummings alongside Mitchell Altieri.

The Film at a Glance

Star Light was acquired by 1091 Media for distribution across digital and on-demand platforms. The film stars a dynamic young cast, including:

  • Scout Taylor-Compton (The Runaways)

  • Cameron Johnson (Light as a Feather)

  • Rahart Adams (Pacific Rim: Uprising)

  • Liana Ramirez (Power Rangers Beast Morphers)

  • Tiffany Shepis (12 Monkeys)

With a blend of horror, youth culture, and supernatural suspense, Star Light captured the attention of audiences and distributors alike.

The Story

The plot follows Dylan (Johnson), a kind-hearted teenager who collides—literally—into Bebe (Taylor-Compton), a world-famous pop star on the run. When Dylan and his friends offer refuge, what begins as a harmless graduation party quickly unravels. With Bebe’s sinister handler Anton demanding her return, the group’s refusal unleashes terrifying, otherworldly consequences.

The film was produced by Cheryl Staurulakis (Orama Filmworks), Jeffrey Allard (Indie Entertainment), and Mitchell Altieri’s San Francisco Independent Cinema, with Stan Holland and Leo Staurulakis serving as executive producers.

Critical Reception

“We made a film that delivers scares and a fun ride, with a talented young cast. We are thrilled 1091 will be bringing Star Light to a wide audience,” said co-director Mitchell Altieri.

Lev Avery-Peck of 1091 Media added: “Star Light is a highly entertaining thriller featuring an exciting, fresh young cast and a solid track record of inventive horror courtesy of Mitchell Altieri. We look forward to audiences around the world discovering the film.”

What It Means for Reel Fleet

For Reel Fleet, Star Light is more than just another film credit. It represents our philosophy: mentorship rooted in real-world success. Lee Cummings brought the same creative energy and storytelling craft to Star Light that he now brings into our programs, showing students what it truly means to take an idea from script to screen.

As our students learn and grow within Reel Fleet, they’re not only gaining theory but also insights from mentors actively shaping the industry. Star Light is proof that with the right vision and execution, independent projects can break through to wide audiences.

At Reel Fleet, we’re building the bridge between education, mentorship, and distribution — ensuring the next wave of filmmakers has the tools, experience, and network to make their own mark on the industry.
